Considering a New HVAC System?

At Climatrol Air® we pride ourselves on being different, and one way we do this is in the way we handle new and replacement HVAC system quotes. Most of the area Heating And Air Repair companies use a dedicated sales team that work on commission who come to your home and give you a quote.

At Climatrol Air, we do not use commissioned sales people. When you get a quote from us it will be from a NATE Certified technician, not a salesperson, who can expertly determine exactly what type of system your home needs. We will also guarantee it to be the lowest price by at least $100!

Become our customer instead of a “lead” …

To be clear, we are not necessarily saying that Heating And Air Repair companies that use a sales force instead of trained techs to sell their new systems are any less competent or trustworthy than us. What we are saying however, is that when problems arise, particularly in this industry, it is usually directly attributed to a miscommunication between the installers and the sales person.

Our owner, Doug Mazursky, a 29 year veteran in the HVAC industry, used to work for one of the larger sales-force driven companies. As a NATE certified tech, he notes that the largest problem he found was when one of the the sales people estimated that your house needed an “example 1” type of system and when in fact it needed an “example2” type of system. When this happens, the process, as well as your comfort, gets delayed. Or worse, the wrong system gets installed anyway and has to be corrected.

This miscommunication usually happens for one of two reasons. The first and most common reason is because of the inexperience of the sales person. The other reason is because the sales person is “selling to their inventory.” This means the their company has too many “example 1” systems or not enough of example 2 systems in stock and they have been told, or incentivized, to “move” example 1 systems. When this happens you may, or may not, get the best system for your home.

At Climatrol Air® we work with a seven day rolling inventory as opposed to a quarterly inventory like the bigger companies. The downside of this strategy is that sometimes, at very busy times, our customer may have to wait an additional day to have their new unit installed. The upside is: we will always install the latest and most up to date system for your home and it will always be the best system for your needs as opposed to a system we need to “move.”

These examples are not uncommon to sales force centric business models. In fact, if you look at the bad reviews for any HVAC company, you’ll see that almost every bad review can be directly attributed to “he said, she said” or the salesperson over-promising and the company under-delivering or the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. Climatrol Air® will never have this problem because we don’t have salespeople. We just have NATE certified techs who quote your job and then install your new system. There can be no miscommunication.

Mini-Splits vs. Central Air

Mini-split systems have little-to-no ducts, so they avoid the energy losses associated with the ductwork of central forced air systems. Duct losses can account for more than 30% of energy consumption for space conditioning, especially if the ducts are in an unconditioned space such as an attic or basement. Central air systems require expensive ductwork. Any homeowner who has priced out having central air installed understands how prohibitively expensive it is.

We know that most Georgia homeowners aren’t experts in all things heating and air conditioning, and that’s okay. When it comes to knowing things like ductless mini-split systems, we know it sounds like a foreign language to most people, that’s why the Climatrol Air® team is here! We’ve got the answers to all of your ductless heating and cooling questions. Browse answers to some of the most frequently asked ductless mini-split system questions we receive or, if you need ductless heating and air conditioning services in the greater Georgia area, give us a call today!

What makes Mini-split systems different from traditional systems?

There are many features and benefits that ductless systems have that traditional units do not. First and foremost, you get to decide which rooms to heat or cool. You can also purchase a single-zone unit for individual rooms where temperature fluctuates easily. Wherever you need more temperature control is where a HVAC will come in handy. HVAC units also include Wi-Fi or a handheld remote, giving you access to temperature control without ever leaving your couch. Our more complexed units even include an occupancy sensor with the ability to direct airflow toward or away the people in that room. These benefits are unique from traditional heating and cooling systems.

What makes up a ductless Mini-split system?

A ductless HVAC system is an indoor fan, referred to as the head, and an outdoor compressor unit. The head measures about 11 inches high, 34 inches long and 12 inches deep and connects with the compressor by copper tubing and electrical wiring that’s passed through a 3-inch hole. The compressor looks like a small central air condenser and can cool and heat one or more rooms.

What are Ductless Mini-Split Systems?

Ductless mini-split systems provide the same comfort that central heating and cooling systems do but without ductwork. These systems are made up of two parts: and indoor unit and an outdoor unit. The indoor unit is mounted on the wall inside of your home. The outdoor unit is placed in an inconspicuous spot outside of your home. The two units are connected through electrical wiring, tubing, and the refrigerant line. The entire ductless mini-split system works together to provide heating and air conditioning without ductwork in your Georgia home.

What is Home Zoning?

Home zoning is one of the many benefits that ductless mini-split systems provide. It’s a term that describes room-by-room temperature control. In other words, placing multiple indoor units in different areas of your home allows you to selectively heat and cool certain parts of your home. This can not only greatly improve your home comfort thanks to the personalization home zoning provides, it can also save you a lot of money.

What are the Benefits of Ductless Systems?

Ductless mini-split systems offer tons of benefits. Firstly, they don’t require ductwork so if your Georgia home doesn’t already have ductwork, you don’t have to worry about the costly and time consuming process of having ductwork installed. Secondly, ductless systems are very energy efficient which means it takes less energy to heat and cool your home which means your energy bills will decrease. Ductless systems also allow for home zoning and customized comfort. That means if one person in your household prefers their bedroom cooler than the rest of the house, it can be done without fighting over the thermostat.

How Do I Choose a Ductless Mini-Split System?

There are a lot of factors involved in choosing the right heating and air conditioning system. For a ductless mini-split system, you’ll need to keep in mind the size of your home, you and your family’s comfort preferences, how much energy you want to use, etc. Our ductless HVAC contractors here at Climatrol Air® can come out to your Georgia home for a free estimate. If you are interested in learning more about the benefits of ductless mini-split systems, give us a call today!

Can I heat and cool my entire home with a ductless system?

In most instances, an entire home can be very efficiently and effectively heated and cooled with a ductless system. For larger homes, either multiple single-zone units or a multi-zone unit can be installed with one outdoor unit and multiple indoor units. They can be installed in new homes as the sole source of heating and cooling. They can also be used to completely replace or work in conjunction with an existing ducted system.

How does the price compare to a conventional system?

It is difficult to answer this question because we’re not comparing “Apples-to-Apples”. But to put it as simply as possible – ductless products are generally a bit more expensive than conventional heating and cooling equipment, but the lower installation costs, higher efficiency and advanced features often make ductless systems the more cost-effective option.

How much does a ductless system cost?

The best part of a HVAC system is you decide how much you want to spend. Our Comfort™ series units are the most economical way to heat or cool your space, while still delivering energy efficiency and easy serviceability. These units are budget-friendly and can be purchased in a single or multi-zone system. If you’re looking for a more feature-rich system, our Infinity® series is Carrier’s premium option for temperature control. If you’re somewhere in the middle, we also offer a Performance™ series that delivers both efficiency and affordability.

There are other factors that play into price as well, including the size of your space, the amount of rooms to be heated or cooled, and the features of your ductless system. Obviously, the more spaces you need temperature control in, the more units you’ll need to purchase. Contact us for a FREE quote and estimated pricing.

What is the warranty?

That depends on the model you select. Our Carrier products have a 10-year warranty on parts and 1-year warranty for the labor.

How noisy is a ductless HVAC?

In general, the sound generated by a head is equivalent to whispering in a library (between 21 and 30 decibels). The sound from an outdoor unit is more like normal conversation (60 decibels) but is much less than a conventional air conditioning condenser.

What is a Mini-Split?

Mini-splits are heating and cooling systems that allow you to control the temperatures in individual rooms or spaces.

Mini-split systems have two main components — an outdoor compressor/condenser and an indoor air-handling unit(s) (evaporator).

They are easy to install usually requiring only a three-inch hole through a wall for the conduit; which houses the power and communication cables, copper tubing, and a condensation drain line, linking the outdoor and indoor units.

Mini-split heat pumps are not only great solutions for whole home or new constructions but make good retrofit add-ons to houses with “non-ducted” heating systems, such as hydronic (hot water heat), radiant panels, and space heaters (wood, kerosene, propane).

They can also be a good choice for room additions where extending or installing distribution ductwork is not feasible, and energy efficient new homes that require only a small space conditioning system.

I was lucky enough to find Climatrol by using Google and saw all the 5 star reviews. I needed my old heating and AC system replaced and gave Doug a call. He was very helpful, considerate and attentive during the phone call. Where my … More individual experience exceeded all expectations is when Daniel came to check the system. This company will listen to your needs, guide you in what you need to do and sell you the product that best meets your needs. I was never pressured into anything and feel that I got exactly what I needed at an unbelievable price. I spoke to Zach during the day of installation several times and they were able to get me back up and running in just two days after the initial visit to diagnose the issue. If you are in their area of service, consider yourself lucky. This is the example of what a local, family owned business should be like. They are now the people I will call in regards to anything heating and air related and the only people I will recommend to friends and family.

We needed to update our ancient heat pump system and install a second one (plus ducts) for our basement. Doug was responsive, listened to our concerns, patiently addressed our multiple questions, and provided several options. He visited … More our home multiple times to ensure everything was ready for installation. Doug's professionalism throughout the entire process was a breath of fresh air. He always arrived when he said he would, completed the work when he said it would be completed, and communicated clearly throughout the entire process. Rates (parts and labor) were reasonable. We are really grateful to have found Doug -- he'll be our go-to HVAC tradesman for the foreseeable future. Highly recommended!

I left an email on their website and received a call within 1 hour on a Sunday night! Scheduled visit to house 2 days later. Full inspection and recommendations made to us NOT only to replace but what we could consider if elected for … More repair. No high pressure just presented us with choices. We elected for new system. This had to be installed while we were not at our vacation home. Our space was treated respectfully. You should only work with company. They are truly professional and trustworthy. We will not work with anyone else for any of our HVAC needs.

  • Avatar Douglas Alexander ★★★★★ 3 months ago
Climatrol did a fantastic job. They went above and beyond. I had 3 entire heating and AC units replaces and their installations was better than the original installation. Very satisfied with the work they performed. Yes I recommend Climatrol. … More Thanks guys for the great work.

Doug and his crew were excellent in installing my new unit. Doug knew right off that one of my unit's life had ended. His knowledge is impeccable. Customer service outstanding. I would recommend his business to anyone. Thank you so … More much from no more hot days.
  • Avatar Isaac Rice ★★★★★ 4 months ago

  • Avatar Richard Johnson ★★★★★ 4 months ago
We had a great experience. They were quick to respond to our initial communication. Proposal was delivered promptly. Work was scheduled immediately and our system was replaced in one day and we had air conditioning that evening. Highly … More recommended

Climate Control Air is one of the best companies we have ever worked with the owner came and gave and gave us us a quote, and out of the 5 companies we contacted he was the one who was the most transparent he sat down and itemized everything … More we were going to get writing the quote on the spot explained to us what size units we needed and even showed us previous customer reviews. His workers were here on time treated our home in a respectable manner cleaned up completely after they finished the job and even took pictures so we could see the work in the attic and also replanted my plant that had to be removed by the outside unit. We will never use another company again, I honestly can't say enough about the quality of customer service and the professionalism this company delivers he even told us what unit brands not to buy. We highly recommend them
  • Avatar Sherrie Los ★★★★★ 5 months ago
They did an awesome job replacing both of our systems and eliminating noises we had with old systems. It’s so much quieter inside and outside. Douglas was very quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had before, during, and after … More install. The crews showed up on time and did a great job, kept their work clean and were very polite.
We went with Climatrol due to Douglas providing us with solutions for things we needed resolved, without us asking. He looked for ways to make the solution and install better for our needs. This did not occur with the other two quotes we obtained. Climatrol was not the cheapest quote but was the most comprehensive (it was also not much higher). They were also the only company that was certified for the system we went with.
  • Avatar Tom Ward ★★★★★ 5 months ago
I entered a service request on Climatrol's website on Father's Day, about 10am. I received a callback from Doug within 20 minutes, and someone was at my home within an hour and a half, and spent over two hours on various HVAC … More tasks, many unrelated to my initial call, but necessary.
This was the second time I had used Climatrol in two weeks, and both times I received timely, knowledgeable, and friendly service. I heartily recommend their services to all.
  • Avatar Carol Rode ★★★★★ 6 months ago
Very impressed. My AC stopped working. I called them at 4:30 and he was out the next day for an estimate. We were leaving for out of town Monday afternoon. They came out early Monday morning and put in a whole new AC all before we had … More to leave. Good communication, good people, family business, on time and good work

Called in the morning and Doug said he would be out the same day ! Arrived just after 2pm earlier than expected and very professional. He informed me of the issue as well as the price upfront. We had best ever experience from the quote stage right through final clean up. Doug has a phenomenal installation team, they worked hard in a difficult crawl space and were professional in every way. They must all have been Boy Scouts as … More they left the work area in better condition then they found it.

Our heat went out on the night it hit 25 degrees and Doug was able to come out the very next afternoon!! He assessed the issues and was able to get the parts he needed within a few days and even came back on Sunday to get us back up and … More running. He was very efficient and went above and beyond to make sure we understood the overall repairs upon completion as the total was more than original estimate. Would definitely recommend Mr. Doug for your HVAC services, he is super friendly and understanding of your family’s needs.

Doug replaced 2 HVAC system for me. His price was fair and his workmanship was excellent. They showed up on time and did the job right and even cleaned up after themselves (very rare now a days.)
A month later the heater stopped working
… More (NOT DOUG'S FAULT), I called Doug at around 7pm, he showed up to my house in less than 30 minutes and fixed the problem with a smile.
I highly recommend Climatrol Air, LLC for all of your heating and cooling needs. Doug is a keeper!
